Photograms
Photograms are students' first venture into the darkroom. Students created photograms using traditional darkroom equipment and chemicals. They experimented with silhouette-style compositions.
Contact Sheets
Students created contact sheets of their film negatives to serve as a record of the photos they had taken, as well as to judge which they would like to print in a larger size.
Darkroom Photo Prints-Leading Lines
Students used traditional film cameras to take photographs with compositions featuring leading lines. They developed their photographs in the darkroom.
Darkroom Photo Prints-Independent
Students were given a roll of film to take photos of their choice. They enjoyed the opportunity to see things creatively and use their artistic eyes.
Digital Prints, unedited
Students learned to use professional-grade DSLR cameras when creating these images. They experimented with composition as well as various camera settings and functions. These photos will be edited using Adobe Photoshop as the next project.
Altered Selfies
Through making this project, students had the opportunity to explore a variety of Adobe Photoshop tools and functions. They started by taking digital photographs, then editing them. Students were given freedom to edit photos as they liked, but were required to include the following: a filter, hue/saturation adjustment, brightness/contrast adjustment, type tool, and an additional layer. All these tools will be used again in future projects.
